The Evolution of Trust & Safety: Marketplace Risk

Summary:
This week I speak with Patricia Cartes Andres, a pioneer in the trust and safety space. She was there for the early work at Google, Facebook, the global team at Twitter, Postmates, and so many more. We discuss the future of trust and safety, regulation, and look at new vectors of harm that happen when you use technology online to connect humans offline such as marketplace apps. This is a great episode, I hope you enjoy.

Patricia Cartes Bio:

Patricia Cartes Andrés started working in the technology industry in 2006 when she joined Google's Webspam team. After building an expertise in site integrity, she joined Facebook as one of the founding members of the company’s Trust & Safety operations in EMEA to combat harassment, child sexual exploitation, human rights violations and other types of harmful content. In 2013 she started working at Twitter where she led the company’s global safety outreach efforts creating Twitter’s Trust & Safety Council and engaging with online safety organizations, academics, policy-makers and regulators. Most recently, she has headed up Trust & Safety teams at Postmates by Uber and VSCO. She currently works as a Trust & Safety and policy advisor for a number of technology companies.
